Operations Update

LaRonde is Agnico-Eagle’s flagship mine, located in the Abitibi region of northwestern Quebec. With proven and probable gold reserves* of 4.7 million ounces (33 million tonnes grading 4.4 g/t gold) as of December 31, 2011, LaRonde has one of the largest gold reserves of any mine operating in Canada.

Q1 2012

  • In Q1 2012, payable gold production of 43,281 ounces at a total cash cost per ounce of $216 net of byproduct credits. Also produced 690,000 ounces of silver, 12,978 tonnes of zinc and 1,326 tonnes of copper. Processed 645,000 tonnes of ore (7,087 tonnes/day), with minesite costs on budget at C$90 per tonne.
  • LaRonde Extension project completed
    • Commercial production declared November 2011.
    • Post-2012, LaRonde expects to ramp up over several years to an average life of mine production of more than 300,000 ounces of gold annually, reflecting higher gold grades at depth
  • Exploration program in 2012 focused on 20 North zone beneath current reserves, at depth to the east of current reserves, defining potential open pit material at Bousquet Zone 5.
