Meadowbank consists of 10 Crown mining leases, 57 Crown mineral claims and three Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. exploration concessions covering a total of almost 39,000 hectares.

Exploration drilling near the mine site continues to investigate the grade, thickness and continuity of mineralization at Goose South with the goal of eventually converting resources to reserves that could be mined by underground methods. Another important aim is to expand the Vault deposit 7 kilometres northeast of the mine, where there have been interesting results along strike.

In 2011, the Meadowbank mine-site exploration program consists of 19,000 metres of drilling at a cost of $7 million. There is an additional $4.8-million regional exploration program that involves 13,000 metres of drilling as well as prospecting surrounding the mine site.
